  3. I’ve liked Holder’s play, but wow what a moron tonight. Your team is pinned and giving scoring chances left & right. Then the puck comes to him & he takes two strides to top of circle then starts playing with the puck!

Are you kidding me? Skate the puck close to Blue line then send it out.

  4. Game over- don’t care about our record. Bunch of softies who dump the puck with NO forecheck or purpose and are painfully slow in their own end. Men against boys. We suck.

  5. Carp come on- look at the difference between these two teams… Is it really that hard to see how badly we’re getting pushed around and dominated in every facet of the game?! Are we watching the same team here?

  6. Sorry carp, no LOLs for me.. I can’t. I tried to can, but I can’t. This team is a facade. What good are they if they can’t turn it up a level when challenged? No good- there’s your answer.

  7. I didn’t say the Rangers were soft – I said Stepan is soft. He is the only player in league history that slows to a stop before delivering a check (which in reality is a slight glancing un-blow)

    Liked by 1 person

  8. Once again… they have no answer for this forecheck. Zero. Were it not for Raanta, this game would be 7-1 already. They have no business being only 2 goals down. PAINFULLY sloppy in their own end and when they get it in the offensive zone, they do nothing with it. Meaningless dumps or too deliberate and slow.

  9. Skidney Crosby continues to attempt to injure opponents without ever having to pay the price. No clue why such a talented player feels the need to do stuff like that.

    Like

  10. Carp- when I say softness, I mean they’re not tenacious… They’re not hard on the puck. They’re fancy boys “if” that game is available. Otherwise, they disappear and play monkey in the middle… Problem is, they’re always the monkey.

  11. 15 shots to 8 for the Rangers but Raanta not able to keep the Superman cape on that period. Grabner has come back down to earth too.

    Like

  12. Craig – I am….and you’re right….they aren’t tenacious in this game. But, they played the second much better, had at least 3 breakaways, Run Tuh is playing lights out, and I think they can still win this game.

  13. Carp, true… the league is very average. And the Rangers have more average players than most. But…Cup contenders have star players

  14. If they’re one of the best teams in the league, they shouldn’t be getting dominated like this. Plain and simple. You’d think the Pens were playing Arizona right now.

  16. All started with Girardi crapping his hockey pants.. We suck in our own end. And if I have to watch Kevin “Kovalev” Hayes one more time pass up a shot to try and make some dumb move. Oh, and just as I’m trying this… they score again. Game over.

  18. Rangers have played more games in 7 days than the penguins have not to mention there missing 3 top 6 players. I don’t know what fans expected tonight. I won’t judge this team until I can see them play a full healthy lineup. It’s a long season. Go into playoffs 100% healthy and they have a chance to make some noise.

    Like

  19. Okay- I’ll put it in the simplest terms. This is a division rival. They’re 2 points behind with games in hand. There are only 6 points that separate 1-5 in their division. If they can’t muster up enough piss and vinegar to compete in this game… I have every right to think they’re a bunch of powder puffs.

Hate when they have a bad game and it is pens. Helping to keep me sick

  21. Pittsburgh OWNS the Rangers now. When they encounter them in the playoffs their season will surely be over. They mostly stand around and watch the Penguins play the game……and they don’t learn anything.

  23. Embarrassing to the logo men against boys. This Doctors cotton team has no fire. The truth is they are just not good enough. Even with Nash, Mika, and Buchnevich they can’t beat the pens!

  24. Please spare me the “they’re tired” speech. They collapsed against Pittsburgh last time they played at the Garden too.

Carp they certainly haven’t had as much of the fancy boy play as years passed but some guys can’t help but revert back. (Hayes, Zucc..)

  25. Kind of like E3’s plumber, the boys knew they were going into hostile territory & had little chance of coming out smelling like roses. Forget it & on to the next game.

  26. Even with all the injuries and Pissburgh being hot and whatever, you can’t let the other team embarrass you like that. You just cant. And this isnt the first time.

And let’s be honest… theres nothing special aboot Pissburgh’s game. They dump puck at certain spots and go after it…WOW!

Whatever… bring on the other hot NHL team.

  27. They already beat the Pens here earlier this season, but there’s not much more entertaining than a bevy of Boneheads with their knickers in a twist. Usually I’m right in there twisting, but they have been hanging in there with the Hartford guys, were due for one of these collapses.

    Like

  28. Regardless of who is or isn’t in the ranger luneup, you don’t beat them at their game when you don’t have a Crosby and malkin on your team. You beat them the way Carolina beat us early in the season. Unfortunately we just don’t have players capable of doing that to the pens on this team.

    Liked by 1 person

  29. The blue jackets will beat the pens in the playoffs. They’ll beat them physically – and on the he scoreboard – by pounding them on every shift. That’s how you beat the Pens.

  30. No Olga, I just don’t believe in BS excuses. One team wanted it waaaaay more tonight and they also have the right pieces. We don’t. No killer instinct, no tenacity. That’s why we lost this game, not bc we were missing players from the line up. Sorry, but Mika wasn’t exactly lighting the world on fire before his injury. Buchnevich was just starting to find his game, and Nash was playing well… But they’re not the whole team. Until this team has a piss and vinegar mentality, they’re going nowhere.

  31. Even in the new pansy NHL, come the playoffs, if you can pound the other team physically you can win. Do the Blue Jackets have the speed to catch the pens in order to crunch them? I think so. And I’d love to see Dubi best crosby’s azz to a pulp.

  32. Craig, they got beat bad tonight. Bad. No excuses… But I don’t give a game in December much weight in the season. I’ll continue to “s’port the team” starting at 20:00 of the 1st period of the next game. The two points lost can be regained tomorrow. (Well, not tomorrow, they don’t play til Friday). Much can happen between now and April, good and bad. Try to cheer up.

  33. Rangers need to get healthy. Make a big trade. Add a younger version of a Milan Lucic (who? Evander Kane if he gets his head on straight?) and they’ll be fine.

I’d love to see a trade like Stepan, Zucc, Shay, and Fast for Foligno, Dubi, and Seth Jones and a pick

  34. I’m good with Jagr’s points Ev. I did not like Messier for leaving NY for the Vancouver money. I also didn’t like Messier’s declining talent when he came back. At least Jagr managed to get the Rangers record for points.

  35. I’d say most of us get the fact that the rangers won’t win every game but at least show a little spirit and act like getting your aasen kicked all over the ice isn’t acceptable.

And to say losing 2 points now doesn’t mean anything is a cop out…these 2 points are worth the exact same as the 2 points for a game in march. Not to mention the rangers
Just gave up 2 points with a oh who care extra eff it game to a team with several games in hand…these 2 points meant something

    Like

  36. Wicky, I know the 2 points mean something. But we didn’t get them. Move on. Win the next game and those two points. Just don’t whine about the lost points as if you could do something about it. Watch the game, root for the team. Take solace in the fact that they are among the league leaders.

In person i’d leave a few minutes early in a blowout loss like the Pittsburgh game earlier in the year. Certainly will against a local rival.

when we get wiped out staying and watching on tv or in person doesn’t do a good thing for me at all. Last year vs Pens in playoffs I was gone long before the buzzer.

When we were eliminated by ot goals vs NJ or LA I clicked as soon as goal was scored and just checked in once to make sure goal counted. Seeing the boys on losing end of handshake. been there done that. The LA celebration was first I missed since the last Devils cup

  38. Olga, your advice, to “take solace in the fact that they are among the league leaders” sums up the ethos of this blog almost perfectly. The idea that you’d need to TAKE SOLACE in the Rangers doing so well this year and over the last five years is an insult to any true, long-suffering fan. To me, it is a post-’94 attitude not to enjoy every minute of this ride. This is franchise, don’t forget, that wins a Cup every 50 years or so–it’s who they are–and yet any time they lose a game, it’s season over, trade everyone, fire AV, etc. Which is probably why I love this place. But LGR anyway!

  39. I did sort of offer solace sarcastically. Just to get them past a bad loss. This is, in reality a losing franchise. (And statistically for me so is Chicago). That says nothing though for the future, unless your some religious nut that believes everything is foreordained. I’m satisfied to sit back and enjoy the ride. 1994 was spectacular, I’m glad I got to go through it. Ditto for the latest Chicago Cup wins. The Rangers will win or lose without my crying, whining, hoping and cheering.

  40. I rarely bail early on a game, but I did after the 5th goal tonight because it was so easy. Some of the goals looked like practice drills with no opposition. If they are not trying….I am not watching. Again, I only bail a few times each year. Tonight was bail #1 for this season.

Adjunct work in retirement at Keuka College, Ithaca College, Cornell (if they’ll have us) or even Elmira College depending on the drive. I think Cayuga lake might be a better bang for the buck which puts us closer to Ithaca….but we will see…it’s all talk at the moment…

Nash starting going bonkers. Apparently he thought the Times was trying to communicate with him? When asked why, he responded that the front page carried an article on pope John XXIII, and when asked to explained that “my name is John and 23 is my favorite prime number”

  54. Wasn’t looking for a win but at least a better effort. They seem intimidated tonight. The Pens may be in the head now. They are not that much better. Got to spend more time in their end. If it is in your end the whole game eventually it winds up in the net.
The Pens were contained in the last two games they played. AV and company have to come up with a different game plan when they play the Pens. Sully has his number right now. Trading chances with them doesn’t work. If they can play the Hawks tough they ought to be able to play a tight game with the Pens.

  55. Well I promised that if the Rangers beat the pens I wouldn’t post any negative comments until Friday. This soft as Doctors cotton team has no pride! AV needs to go. Before the season started I suggested this organeyezation play for the future! This group is not winning a cup. Trade Nash, Zucc, Klein and Stepan. Girardi to the press box. Keep VC with Hayes & Miller. Kreider with Mika and the Ruskie when they return. Maybe Hank asks to be traded! This team needs elite talent Tank for Nolan Patrick! This team sucks! Good morning fellow Boneheads on to Minnesota if they lose Friday I won’t let it ruin my Christmas!
