  1. Funny to me that Julien gets canned and turns up in Montreal, so the Bruins go on a nice run and Montreal trades for every available clown and goon.

  2. We should take a road trip Coos. If we search through some seedy neighborhoods in Toronto I’m sure we can find someone that fits that description. We’ll check out a few bars and hardware stores. there’s bound to be someone better than Smith up there!

  3. Eric, why can’t we beat them? We own capitals in playoffs over last 5 years. Crushed penguins two seasons ago and beat them the year before that. They would be favored, sure, but it’s so much closer than you make it sound. If we had added shattenkirk, it would have been even closer.

  4. Honestly, I expected that Smith will confront Merchant or someone just to show some toughness to new teammates and to justify his acquisition. Still some time left for show.

  5. Carp it’s not even about intimidation. It’s about getting torn to shreds in the post season. Bruins used the third period to chop slash and hack with their sticks and crash the net. Now maybe fighting through it and hanging on for the two points is acceptable for a Thursday night game in early March but you know better than anyone here that style of play is going to be the nail in their casket come post season. Even if they win a round there won’t be much of a team left to make it through the second

  6. Hell of a game by the captain tonight. He and Lundqvist are star of the game 1/1a imo.

Happy for buchnevich too. Can’t wait to hear AV interviewed about how “he’s a great kid that has a lot of positives to his game and it’s gonna help him tremendously in Hartford as he continues to go through the prOcess”

  7. James they will go down in the postseason because they’re not as good as PIT or WAS, not because they were beaten up. They lost last year because PIT was much better. they lost to TB the year before because they had four broken defensemen, not because they were outmuscled. The year before to LA because LA was better. IMO

  8. Whoever wrote off Burrows, but the guy scored 2 goals in his first game for Ottawa. No “nervousness”, no “difficult adaptation to different system”. How about that?

  9. I won’t lie, to me that’s not a feel good win. bruins took advantage in the third. Figured out right away that they could get away with getting the sticks up high and slashing away while crashing Lundvists net at the other end and they did just that with little to no retaliation or defense against it. Glad it’s a big joke around here that they get called soft but if they draw Washington or Montreal first round they’re going to get shredded like the week old cabbage at a truck stop diner that’s having a special that includes cole slaw.

  10. You’re right Carp. Those teams were/are all better than them. And ultimately that’ll be why they lose the series but they’d still have a better chance if they had the capability to wear down the opponent once the on the fly pretty boy offense won’t get the job done.

Idk about Montreal. They’re still plenty skilled even with King and Ott on the fourth line

  11. I think if Buchnevich didn’t lose all that time w the back injury his role would be much different right now.
He’s obviously got offensive capabilities that belong in this lineup and not as a fourth liner. But make me a bet that the coach will play him over a veteran come post season

  12. Habs problem has been scoring. Something about their D not able to transition puck. Hmmm
    .
Alex – good call on McD for McDonald award
    .
Carp – Grabber on 4th would make sense.
    .
Need to separate Zucc and Kreider somehow

  13. Girardi needs some rest to be ready for the PO. Klein probably be successfully replaced by Smith. Fast and Grabner is my biggest concern. Pimpel ,BTW, wasn’t too bad, but Pirry was. Buch’s Achilles heel is still a NHL’s physical condition – kid can’t win one fight for puck anywhere on court, definitely not a PO material.but I would keep him in the roster for his situational vision and occasional brilliance in shots and passes.

  14. After a brutal 1st period, a nice win.

Gorton, (and Carp), looking pretty smart right now. Smith settled in and was exactly as advertised. Shot-suppresser. A little snarl. Looks to be a good skater.
SO happy Gorton didn’t trade Lindberg or Buch or Skjei!

  15. Remember when you had to wait all night to see rangers highlights on ESPN? That is NHL network tonight. hank ties for 10th on his birthday. I didn’t even hear them mention that they played

  16. Got home late, just finished watching the game….

I voted shampoo boy, easy peasy jimmy vesey, and I-95…in no particular order.

    HM to machine

    Classy classy classy Montreal

Now to go back and read the comments and see if there is a “run out of the bldg by bigger team” exaggeration comment or two.

Speaking of comments, anyone hear hank’s post game with Boucher? Hank said they needed to add grit and physicality so smith helps in that. I wonder why an NHL player thinks he knows more about hockey than norm? 😉

  17. Caught up on comments…knew what I’d see, you guys never disappoint;)

    Norm
Yes sir, it was a good hit.

Silver lining is they can make a couple of “hockey trades” in the off season regardless of playoff outcome.

I also think even though AV got an extension, a first round exit and he might be canned.

  18. Absolute beauty by Zuke, don’t get many hits like that these days. As for the game, Hank should be arrested for grand larceny, he absolutely stole those points for us.

  19. SN I’ve been saying that about Zucc and Kreider for awhile now. Gotta separate those 2. And there must be something wrong with The. There’s no bite to his game, looks lost again.
