Good almost afternoon. For the traditional stats types, see this link which shows points with 2nd assists removed. Probably want to full screen it on a 1920×1080 display otherwise enjoy the scroll bars
Let’s see if this is Raanta’s coming out party like Talbot’s after Hank took one in the neck. He made some big saves on defensive breakdowns when it was 1-1 in the second. McD was going to the net all game and was rewarded. Hayes shot through Marazek’s legs would have gone wide if McD isn’t there. Hopefully Hayes, Miller, Grabner is starting to click again and the scoring drought will ease. Kampher seems to have displaced Clendening although Luke was playing yesterday. You don’t notice him much which is good. No MCI sighting yesterday. Wonder where he winds up next year.
“Hayes shot through Marazek’s legs” I saw as a pass, or a shot/pass. Held it, held it, held it some more, saw five-hole, knew he had a man with. Good play regardless, and a great drive to the net by McD. Watching Grabner let him go was hilarious, as he easily could have gone by with his Grabjets. Good hockey by all three guys.
They took Zook’s playmates away from him one by one. Then, rendered speechless, he came back from the dead. Little wonder if he might now see hockey as more of an occupation than a joy.
Dolan asked Carp to push a snowblower up and down 7th Avenue today to be sure there was no problem with tonight’s gate. Carp pushing…Duguay screaming…it’s a great day to be alive
I saw someone wearing a Golden Knights hat yesterday, and it was as terrible as I expected.
Hopefully the new Detroit building has better sight lines for television.
Al Green>Mike Green “Let’s stay together.”
Mitch “Blood” Green>Mike Green.
Dallas Green>Mike Green (“Well, tell Manager George …”) … I was actually there that day.
Joe Raposo, the very approachable genius behind ‘being green,’ ‘there used to be a ballpark.’ and most of the Charlie Brown music/lyrics, died at a too young age. He could often be seen on the streets of Bronxville, occasionally chomping on a cookie.
Zuc sucks as the link I posted earlier shows. OK perhaps that’s a bit harsh, but when you knock off the secondary assists, his point total tanks. Skjei the same. Are all secondary assists bs? No, but sometimes the scorers do give them out like candy. That said, I still love the guy, just think he’s a little overrated by the faithful, though thankfully not making 8M per.
oh and he would be tied with McD in points 38 (first among our dmen) and tied with Holden in goals with 10(first among our dmen) all while playing on a terrible Detroit team.
Caps clearly not built for the playoffs as they had the audacity to lose multiple games in a row this time of year to top (and not so top) competition out West. Fire Trotz, trade over the hill ex Kings, sit goalies to shake things up, smh smh smh!!!!!
What’s up with Shatty performing the human torpedo to get a couple of days off? Trying to amp up his physical bona fides for the FA market?
.
According to C3P – Mike Green > McD
Staal was injured
Staal should be on 3rd line so not to mess up chemistry
Staal is having a down year
Stall should play forward.
.
man they screwed that one up
Combining you really see how balanced HATED and Haze explaining in part Grabner’s success with the NYR. But at the end of the day, this all ignores the absolute numbers and that is where some of us feel let down a bit by Zucc (and Nash) this year.
Carp – Thanks for the McDonald link. I wish I could have written in Steven McDonald’s name. It was a tough choice, but ultimately decided on Dan Girardi for two reasons.
First as sort of a lifetime achievement award since this could be his last season with the Rangers. He gets a lot of grief for his contract and the way his place has slipped during the past couple of years. With that said, he has gone above and beyond the call in his career with the Rangers. Sometimes fans forget his part of the top unit that helped shur down the top lines during the Rangers runs in the playoffs.
Secondly, Girardi was one of my wife’s favorite players and it is my small way of honoring her boy “DANNY!”.
I caught the beginning of AV’s pre-game presser and he said the vacuum is off of Girardi’s ankle and he should be ready to skate tomorrow – weather permitting.
If he had what I think he had on that must have been some nasty wound because the vacuum is needed to help it heal from the inside out. The wife had a wound vac when she was recovering from bladder cancer surgery in October 2012.
I’d feel more let down by Nash and Zucc’s goal totals if a) the Rangers were a having a problem scoring and b) they weren’t contributing at the ignored end of the ice. Key players on a very good team.
Regarding the Steven McDonald award I agree with Anthony, and will be voting for the quiet warrior, Dan Girardi. I CRS, but I do remember seeing that gaping hole in his ankle a few weeks ago. Over the years he’s been asked to take a beating worse than the Berlin wall in 89. And, I still remember his iron man years of not missing a game.
Of course, all this means is that Topo will win it. lol

To Zucc and his primary assists, the forward leaders on the Rangers in % first assists to points scored are:
Stepan 49%
Fast 48%
Nash 39%
Zucc 38%
Hayes 37%
Miller 36%
Didn’t look at the D, who would presumably have fewer firsts. Step needs to work on his secondary assists 🙂
[Couldn’t post without looking up Skjei and McD, 34% and 53% (!!) Beastly percentage for McD.]

McD should win hands down – just brings it every game at a very high level or is this the most popular Ranger award?

@Norm – interesting way to look at it but think need a side by side w/ goals as % of points as well, ie (sorry the formatting)
THE 55/45
BEEP 68/22
NASH 55/39
OPIE 28/49
HATED 38/36
HAZE 37/37
COUCH 24/48
ZUCC 26/ 38
