  1. Bad enough Buchnevich is a spectator…….Rangers will not be a threat to win squat when Jesper Fast is anywhere but the 4th line. Putting Vesey down there instead is dumb.

  3. Hondo, do you know anyone still in the NY area with Optimum or Comcast? Perhaps they’re “visiting” you and they let you sign on to MSG GO with their account so you can both watch the game? 😉

  4. Thanks Carp! 😉 I’m actually using MSG GO for the first time (I’m in South Carolina) and it’s working well! By the way Carp, I figured you’d like my St. Patty’s Day shirt (scroll up in this thread)! Ha!

  5. E3s can just followed me. It says “Call a plumber – Quickly!” LMAO.

That is a nice shirt, Dan 🙂

Hondo, it doesn’t matter if they watch hockey as long as they have an Optimum ID and password they can loan you.

Agree, up 2-0, but it wasn’t a stellar period at all. Decent start. Then not so good.

  6. Hondo, I’m in Mt. Pleasant, SC (right outside of Charleston). I’ve been here since 2000. Originally from Long Island. Love it here. However, it’s one of the fastest growing cities in the US. It’s mind-boggling how many Northeasterners are now here (past few years have been an explosion of growth). Every day I see new plates from NY/NJ/Boston/Philly/Etc. Surprisingly lots of hockey fans though. A family down the road are big Islanders fans! I have two young ones…schools are great in this area!

  7. Thanx rick..i assume i’d need a comcast setup for it to work..ie dump direct tv. Dan I’ve been here for 7 years moved from upstate ny (50 yrs) near saratoga on a lake…miss the lake life. This area is also exploding from a beach town to yr rd people. Cant decide on lake/mts of sc or nc just exploring now

  8. Hondo, I’ve heard Saratoga is really nice. My brother goes up that way a bunch. Many people like the Greenville, SC area. It’s also attracting many Northerners, but seems like a really relaxed atmosphere. Have some friends up that way and stayed during Hurricane Mathew back in October.

  12. This is beginning to look like the end of last season. And “uncontested” is making regular appearances on the PK again. Could easily be 2-0 FL IF Reiner makes,a couple of makable saves. Unless they start playing better playoff pairings don’t matter. Right now they couldn’t eat anybody 4out of 7.

  13. Not scoring on 100% chances, inability to complete simple passes, just watching like hypnotized, puck moving towards a net opponents, splashes of persistent mood, intersperse with a passiveness – borderline apathy… and all this against really weak teams, where you could’ve good drill.
Do you still believe this team somehow miraculously goes deep in PO just understanding suddenly importance of the games? I don’t thing so…PO games really needed extra efforts, but also a character and winning mentality. And Rangers demonstrated too many times this season, that they somehow lacking in this department…

  14. Fancy plays work when executed properly (see Florida 3rd goal). As does crashing the net and forechecking. It’s never only one or the other–you need both. I still think the crap ice at MSG is not a surface this particular roster thrives upon, that the so-called fancy plays (aka passing plays) work better on good ice than bad.

  15. OK do we really think this team is capable of winning a home game or playing for 60 min the way they started the 1st? 1 and done Rangers. Well I’m not going to let ruin my nights sleep. Because tomorrow night will be not be anything worth watching, unless you’re Wilds fan. Oh and by the way will the real Rick Nash please stand up and earn your pay check! I tried Norm.

  16. The silver lining in the Lundqvist injury is Vegas won’t be taking Antti in the expansion draft! AV continues to baffle the mind. Fast in the top 9 ridiculous! If the Ranger organization does’t have anyone better than Tanner Glass to play on the 4th line they are in serious trouble! If I’m Antti I come down with a serious migraine about any hour before game time tomorrow night. Let Hellboy take the humiliation!

  17. They’ll be fine tomorrow. They will be playing a good team and I’m sure they’ll be up for it.

That said, count me among those who think this team is in trouble come playoff time. And, no Carp, I don’t take any great joy in saying that. It’s just my opinion. I’d rather be raving about how great they are, but I just don’t see it. If they were firing on all cylinders, they would be great, but they seldom have this season.

  18. This was supposed to be a transition year so we have to put things in perspective. Gorton “has a plan.” This has been a pretty good year, but, without a better playoff showing it will be hard to see where they have made any progress. The transition may include some changes in the “leadership group” that seems to accept playing hard for one period a game on a regular basis.

  19. EddieJ it takes hard work and tenacity to fire on all cylinders. they have the ability not the will to do so. And it begins at the top. Just looking at the line combos put in place by AV says it all. He is always searching for answers and that to me is a major flaw withour coach!

  20. Rick Nash has gone from B- to C+; 5-8-13 in his last 28 Games; 1-1-2 on PP
    .
That JT Miller has to stick up for a 6’4″ 220 lb guy is an absolute joke. guy is a big wuss.

Seems we started out ok last night….what happened?! Will be skating it late tonight, assuming I get the fricking game!!!!!

  22. CCCP, these losses aren’t on Antti. The team is playing like crap offensively and defensively. That is how they were playing in front of Hank in December and January when his struggles peaked. A goalie can only do so much and outside of Zuuc I thought Antti was the best Ranger on the ice last night. Reminded me of the game Hank played against the Caps a few weeks ago. He gave up 4 goals but was the only guy putting any effort into the game. Our goalies aren’t the problem. The rest of the team taking off entire periods every game is the problem.

  23. I’m not surprised because I knew it would take Gorton time to get this team headed in the right direction to be a contender again and right now the rangers are stuck on neutral. This year is a replay of last year where they get off to a fast start and than slowly come down to earth and by the last month of season play mediocre hockey right into the playoffs where they get knocked out in the first round. The one thing that concerns me is the only thing that has stayed the same is the coach.

  24. Old Ranger Fan is correct to point out that expectations have changed greatly for this team since last summer. Unfortunately, desires often are conflated into expectations, as seems to be the case now. Nine months ago giving NYR fans a gift box and inside was a paper guaranty of 100 pts this season.. well people would have been doing cartwheels while not mocking it as crazy. Barring a complete collapse, it looks like 98-100 pts is in the cards.

So it is my hope and desire that this team will realize they can only win at the next level by playing hard for a full 60, but it is not my expectation. Not yet at least.

  25. PK falling apart again is a cause for concern. They made a concerted effort to fix it over the summer and it seemed to have worked up to about a month or so ago. Now again they are not moving their feet just waving their sticks and “uncontested” is making nightly appearances. This is a coaching failure. The players have shown they can do it if they are handled correctly.

  26. Nash has a concussion history so he can’t protect himself. What was the excuse prior to concussions?
Does that also force him to rarely pass and take bad angle shots?
76 assists in his 06 NYR games (5 seasons); pass the freakin puck!

  27. A common complaint on this site is that they don’t shoot enough- pass, pass, pass. I complain about it, too. Now, we have SN complaining that Nash WON’T pass the puck. I think no matter what they do, they’re wrong. : )

  28. Nash doesn’t pass the puck, takes horrible angle shots and mostly puts his head down and bull rushes the net which ends with a save, shot wide or him on his arse.
If he was scoring goals, less of an issue; 5 goals since the new year and is a black hole on offense.
Here comes a Mr October spring to be forgotten. The Nashed Potato lives!!
    .
Would prefer he pass the puck and move his feet toward the goal.

  29. Maybe Gorton could not get the value he wanted in return. But I still say Stepan and Nash should have been traded at the deadline. Possibly the Hobbit as well. One way or the other wouldn’t change their playoff outcome. Similar to not trading Yandle last year. Bad management decision. The truth is the Rangers are where they are due to the brilliance of Sather!

  33. Nash shooting to cause rebounds, following the adage: putting the puck on net is never a bad idea. An occasional pass, though, would be nice.

  34. Fancy-boy passing the culprit at home? Maybe, but not on the strength of these two games. 3 goals scored in each. I nominate better ice, better defending, and four hockey lines ahead of of fancy-boy. In no particular order.
