IT’S GO TIME! RANGERS VS ISLANDERS

I’m sure we will have to hear for the 900th game in a row about how this is a desperate Islanders team and tonight is their “game 7” while the Rangers are…well..you get the point. Figured a fresh thread for a fresh airing of grievances. HAV at it!

  1. Back to back nights of “desperate teams” that the Rangers can’t help but lose to? I guess the Rangers have nothing to play for as long as they get their 100 points and plenty of good “looks”?

  2. dammit. BANJ’d.

    repost:

fyi, a front-office person told me the other day that Pittsburgh is the team that scares the Rangers the most because of their speed and skill and defensive style and because their goalie is really good, a k a, the Rangers might not have a big edge in that department.

  3. From this morning it’s about as positive as I can get for tonight’s game…….If the Rangers win tonight we can count on “Fire and Brimstone coming do with from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling, forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, Volcanos, Dead Rising from the graves! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together mass hysteria”

  4. 8 pm start? I’m in!
Win in regulation, and they need 3 more points to clinch.
Buchnevich prucha’d again. I thought Buchnevich-Lindbergh- Vesey was their best line last night.

  5. I think the pens are more of a quick team than a fast one.

They also win a lot of 50/50 battles along the wall, which is something the rangers can’t seem to do in their own end.

  6. Cerny is cherry picking my comments…says a lot of rangers success under av due to torts system and style of play he instilled in several current rangers.

    Cerny speaking the truth

No disagreement with norm from my end. He doesn’t like reality, which is his prerogative. I understand completely the game and rules have changed over the years. It’s too difficult for him to admit the core and fabric of the game, that is played with emotion and physicality as well as skill, is still the same.

  8. Buch injury explains it, then. Otherwise it would simply have been red meat for the throngs given how the points count for nothing. I’m hopeful there will be some mayhem for those who enjoy it–me, stuck at work, glad to miss it.

  10. considering the islanders situation and it’s the islanders, thought the rangers played a good period, would have been nice to bury some of the opportunities but I’ll take 0-0 after 1 period.

I think it may be midnight for Michael GRABNER.

  19. They’re gonna wind up closer to the second wild card spot than 3rd place in the division. They’ve lost enough. I don’t want to hear about us wanting to tank. We’re getting that first wild card spot almost regardless of what we do art this point. Win em all amd they still won’t move up. Have some damn pride. You outplayed them and still lost because you forgot how to put the puck in the net and shot your load in the first half of the season.

  20. Two games in a row Raanta was outplayed and the losses aren’t even his fault. At least next game Lundqvist would be in and we know he’ll be outplayed ahead of time. Maybe they’ll support him better than they’ve supported Raanta.

  23. The heads at MSG need to think of a way to close the place for the playoffs so the Rangers can play it all one the road or this is going to be the second postseason occupied by golf. Maybe a rat infestation?

  24. It’s highly possible they don’t win another game are home during the regular season. Only 3 games left there and 2 of them are against the pens.
Even if we do, it’ll be at least a month and a half between wins at home at the least.

  25. You can be negative about this team. You can be positive about this team. That is your right. The bottom line tho, if they don’t start playing better… then, as they say, one and done.

  30. Don’t these players understand that there are a few certain teams that the fans insist be beaten, especially at MSG? Or don’t they care? Sure, the Garden is full of suits who wander in with free ducats, but what in hell can even they get enthusiastic about? We need a couple of varmint disruptors who can also play the game.

  32. finns – I had a older (old) student auditing a college Creative Writing Course I taught and he turned in a paper about a guy who awakened in a pile of garbage at the dump and had no idea how he got there. I told him that his ‘story’ was very imaginative and he replied that it was all true and that the protagonist was he (him). Needless to say, it was just the beginning of an eerie and somewhat interesting semester.

  34. Nash has been playing like a beast for a while now but, and there’s a but, even though he’s scored in 2 straight games after not scoring in 9 straight, they were both in losses. In fact his last 4 goals were in losses and he hasn’t scored a goal in a winning game in almost a month amd a half and that game was against the absolute worst team in the league.
I’m absolutely loving watching him play but don’t those stats point to a player who’s as far from clutch as they come?

  37. Rangers have lost 4 games now when leading after 2 periods. That’s the second most by any team this season. Also Raanta has lost the only 2 games in his career against the fish sticks, giving up 8 goals on 59 shots. Yuck.

  38. Anyone watch the offsides discussion on nhl network just now? Some of that stuff is ridiculous and not common sense. I don’t have a problem with the rule and the challenge, but only if it’s used with common sense.
And funny how the two most controversial possible offsides goals were by the Blackhawks and both goals were counted. Hawks love much NHL?
One one Panarin had possession of the puck and was in the zone ahead of the puck. All fine so far. But he passes the puck while it’s still on the blueline so the puck enters the zone in no one’s possession and he should be offsides, right? Apparently wrong. The NHL Network just explained that Panarin can’t put himself offsides in that scenario. Why the f#ck not?! That’s ridiculous. So was the other goal they scored on an offsides but the Panarin one was the most obvious negation of common sense.

  39. Rangers pretty much kicked the Tanks’ butts up and down the ice 5-on-5 tonight. Their penalty kill is dreadful, lucky goals or not. Their PP has scored a bit lately, but with a chance to pad 2-1 in the third, it didn’t produce a chance.
This game means zilch, as Norman said, but they better fix some things before April 12.
Of course, they will also have road-ice advantage for the first three rounds. And they will be playing teams more imperfect than themselves for the first two rounds.

Well at least there will no dogs and cats living together Until they get elite talent they will never win a cup. Elite talent score big goals NYR not so much! I don’t care how meaningless this game was you don’t lose to this azzlander team at home. Sorry Carp one and done doesn’t matter who they play. The said thing is us fans obviously take the loses harder than they do. Embarrassing!
