  1. Coos – I agree. I don’t understand. Do they really think the females are going to become fans just because a guy has pink skate laces or whatever? It’s ridiculous.

As for hockey. I was traveling this weekend. Got into the hotel with about 15 minutes left in the Ott/Pitt game. Holy cow it’s 1-0! Then Pitt scores and I think they’re going to win going away. Nope. Go figure.

  2. Before last night’s game I thought wouldn’t Nashville vs Ottawa in the final be a TV ratings blockbuster? {s} I guarantee NBC is praying that Pittsburgh wins.

  3. I’m pretty excited for the Memorial Cup. Aside from major junior being entertaining as hell, it’s going to have a few good opportunities to see Gropp and Day, especially on May 21 when they play against each other.

I’m particularly interested in seeing Sean Day. For a guy who has been labeled as having commitment and fitness issues, it will be very interesting to see what he’s done with himself over the past six weeks since his team was eliminated from the OHL playoffs by the London Knights, especially against teams that have been battling through their respective playoffs.

  4. Wish I knew what allowed some teams to go down a couple of goals and comeback and win or a team to give up a goal or two and not just fold. Is it the type of players, the system they play, the coach? A combo?

Just asking for a friend who roots for a different team 😉

  5. I know I must sound like a broken record……broken record……broken record……but I still say the hated pens win the cup! And just for the broken record if we trade any of our young core out west for defensive help they will eventually wind up in Pittsburgh!

  6. Watching every minute of these games. Though I am bored out of my mind. I guess boring hockey is better then none. Can’t stand baseball so football better be here soon.

  7. Wicky these things tend to be cyclical in a league that is designed to even things out based on draft and cap. Yes exceptions like Pittsburgh exist (chicago had a great run too).

Has your friends team made the cup finals in last 5 years? Any other runs to conference finals in those years? Maybe it has an aging core and is on the downside of the cycle. Has your friends team kept their picks in the draft and rebuilt that way?

  9. Coos I was thinking about you today with the roof rake as I raked rocks off my lawn. Too much yard work. I encountered a snake, a tic and a spider that was literally half the size of my size 12 shoe. Where have you gone Westchester County!

  10. Eli, don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but Carp isn’t a fan of the Rangers. They’re on that list with Wicky, European hockey players, JT Miller, French Canadians, the L.I.E. , the Verazano, et al. 🙂

  11. With that said, Carp you’re kidding right? lol I mean I get it but at the same time I’m just sick and tired of Pittsburgh just like people complain about the Patriots and the Yankees- there’s no fun when one team is loved by the league, has most the band wagon fans come post season time, gets most the calls and tends to be managed well, stacked with talent and wins championships as often as you and I eat fish on X-mas Eve.

  13. Things I worry about because I’m a Ranger fan:
-NYR buy out Dan Girardi and 5 minutes later the Islanders, Flyers or Devils sign him to a 2 year deal for $900,000 per. Pierre goes on to refer to G as the “best 3rd pair Dman in the league”.
-Raanta is taken by Vegas and gets traded to an Eastern Conference rival team at the deadline when their goalie gets hurt.
-Grabner is taken by Vegas and is traded to Pittsburgh before the season starts since Vegas also picked Hagelin.
-Lindberg is taken by Vegas, gets traded to Philadelphia and becomes a solid 2C for the next 10 years.

BTW, there shouldn’t even be an expansion draft. They should have moved Arizona across the desert.

Sather’s NMC’s are the gifts that keep on cursing this organization.

The Flower earns his 10th playoff shutout, tying him with Hanka for most shutouts by active goalies in playoffs.

    FCK Kessel with the GWG.

  16. Pittsburgh blames themselves U.K.
Clearly they need to address their glaring need for an enforcer who is willing to go after the opposing team’s star players. Matt Cooke is only a year older than Chris Neil who clearly helped the Sens defeat the Rangers. Maybe he’s worth a look 🙂

  17. Pageau buried every chance he had against the Rangers but shanked his shots last night and no BGB three cushion shot at the end. Sens PK has been good. Maybe it wasn’t all bad PP by the Rangers. MAF looks shaky at times, but, doesn’t give up the killer softee. Sens trap hasn’t slowed down the Rangers or Pens, but Anderson has been better than he was against the Rangers. If Sens can win game 3 it may be a series. If not Pens will roll over them like they did the Rangers last year.

  18. so it’s not Stepan, or Miller, or Kreider or Haze who need surgery… it is our MOST effective forward in playoffs who needs one! Unreal! Kid played hurt and still outplayed all of the fat cats who were healthy! LOVE THIS TEAM!
