  1. Some interesting questions on the blog yesterday. Here is the question for you: Would anything be different if in 2004 Washington took Malkin at #1 instead of Ovechkin, and Pittsburgh took Ovechkin at #2?

Simmonds’ 2017-18 injury list: Torn pelvis, pulled groin, broken non-weight bearing bone in his ankle, and torn ligament in his hand. Also had a bunch of teeth knocked out.

  3. Up in the home state tonight. This will be the first game of the playoffs I’ve seen. I hope it’s a good game. Sounds like Mac is playing well for Tampa. How’s JT doing?

  4. Zucc unselfishly over stayed his shifts. It was for the good of the team. He also ran around in the Dzone unselfishly. Often leaving his teammates out to dry. Sometimes, unselfishly, he would hold on to puck forever on the PP. forcing his teammates to stand around and watch him. Also, unselfishly, Zucc would blindly pass the puck up the middle in the Ozone. With the puck often finding its intended target. That target was Hank, who would then come out of his net to retrieve a Zucc wish pass.

  5. The rangers were really communicative about AV after his final game presser. That situation was so ripe. Can’t believe the last two seasons were just wasted with him here. Bet hindsight has them thinking they should have done it earlier

  6. Kreider and Hayes impressed me at the end. Zbad just felt like a dude padding stats at the end of a bad season, like once the games mean nothing, now you feel free to compete? Like wtf is that? Was kinda un-Nerving to see zbads body language and swag at the end of a washed out season, like he was proud instead of humbled and embarrassed by the fact that he was padding stats and finally playing hard once it didn’t matter

  8. Would you want Svechnikov or Zadina? I know the overall consensus is w/ svechnikov…

Btw- DeBrusk is a stud. He’s the guy I really wanted in the Nash trade, but…. we all knew that wasn’t happening.

  9. If Svechnikov’s comparison is to Voracek… I mean that’s nice and all…. but not the “game changer” we need. Zadina seems like more of a pure sniper, no?

It’s obvious what was happening with the team all around. I’m not arguing that. I called for it so early on. AV has been the wrong coach for this team since the loss to the lightning. And if you don’t see that, than your the one who doesn’t have a full clear picture

  13. No Alex. BS. It’s not hindsight. I saw it so long ago. I guess you don’t know my stances. I’ve been saying it a long long time. AV rode the culture and locker room he inherited, he changed the system and loosened the reins and let the locker room handle itself, but all that stuff was mandated by brass, any number of coaches would have had the same postseason success here. They made him here, he didn’t make the team, he rode the culture until his own culture eroded that away and they have been a mediocre team ever since. And the softest team in the league. Your crazy, AV and his stubbornness wasted two seasons i night have enjoyed watching.

    yeah right.

we give him no benefit for getting to finals and then conference finals but all the blame since

fair and balanced you are not.

and with another coach with older henrik, girardi (2 yrs ago), staal, nash etc we would have won the cup

    again yeah right

now was the perfect time to go for new coach as we embark om the rebuild.

  17. Honestly Alex. Maybe it means I’m totally clueless. But I don’t think AV had very much to do with the rangers postseason success whatsoever.

Your right. That’s what I’m saying i believe. I think whatever coach the rangers hired, they were going to make those postseason runs. Most of those runs, the rangers were down 3-1 in series and than came back based on either unique circumstances (msl) or the rush and adrenaline from mounting the comebacks. AV’s systems got us in those 3-1 messes to begin with

We won in spit of AV

  18. I don’t want the B’s winning this series but I don’t want Toronto winning the cup almost as much as I want Pissburgh to not win. We still need a few more no-cup seasons from Toronto before the Rangers lose their infamy as the team with the longest cup drought of all time.

  19. I don’t see them bringing back Nash unless he stays unsigned for a while. He won’t be their first move on July 1 and someone with throw money at Nash. He should do as well as Eric Staal did and I don’t think he will wait around for the Rangers.

  22. Can’t see why a good team would offer Nash any sizeable amount of money given the player he has been offensively the last couple years, not to mention this latest concussion.
    —-
We lost to Tampa because Hank couldn’t stop anything in Games 2 and 3!!

Kuch, Wouldn’t worry about the Leafs winnings the cup this year

  23. Agree that bringing back Nash is a bad move. He is the past and a soft player when they say they want grit. There’s an argument for Kovalchuk. I don’t see one for Nash.

  24. Av was and is overrated.

He should have been fired 2 seasons ago.

Team played worse and worse every season he coached.

Rangers made the finals on torts coattails not av’s accomplishment.

  25. What is seriously wrong with Wicky? He likes Sidney Crysbys team. Would rather see us get a second rounder than a first rounder from Tampa. And would rather get a later first rounder from Boston than an earlier one. What the actual f?

  26. Wick we have Boston’s and Tampa’s 1st rounders this year no matter what, so I’d rather have the earliest possible draft picks but just me. Probably a moot point now

This is the sixth #Game7 in NHL history to feature 10+ goals. The others:

    13 – 1968 QF (MNS 9, LAK 4)
    12 – 1992 DSF (NYR 8, NJD 4)
    11 – 1984 DF (EDM 7, CGY 4)
    10 – 1976 QF (PHI 7, TOR 3)
    10 – 1990 DF (CHI 8, STL 2)

  29. No, I wouldn’t, tho I’d feel more comfortable that pick would vest than ours this year. but that has nothing to do with wanting Boston to win tonight. It is just downside for us if Boston wins

  30. McD would have helped Toronto, but, probably wouldn’t have been enough for them. So Shanny and Lou didn’t pull the trigger. He’s much better off with the Del Boca Vista Rangers where he is apiece of the puzzle, but, not looked on as the savior.

I don’t mind a player being dirty as long as he answers the bell.

Tampa is full of punks that play dirty but don’t answer the bell.

    I can’t stand that team.

I also love l’étang, Perry, Roussel, Neal, Perron, kesler, karlsson, fleury, hall, big buff, laine, Wheeler, trouba….there are a ton of players that I love the way they play

  34. I didn’t realize that despite having most of their top players on ELCs the Leafs had no cap space. They would have to get very creative to free up cap space to sign a vteran D let alone a high end UFA. They have several UFAs which they probably won’t re-sign. But those players have to be replaced. They have work to do this Summer just to keep even.

  35. Old Ranger Fan…i think the Leaves are OK next year, they have $25m available and only Nylander, Jonsson and Carrick as RFA’s to re-sign.
UFA’s Bozak, JVR, Komarov, Polak (and Plekanec) are all coming off the books – so obviously they have some work to do but they’ll need to save some money for the following season for Matthews bumper contract.

They’ll be looking for top 4 D for sure
