It’s Go Time!

Rangers (5-7-1) vs Sabres (7-5-2), 7 pm start. TV-MSG+

Baby steps. Our boys are looking for 3 in a row. The Sabres played last night and destroyed Ottawa 9-2. This one is for Wicky: Ottawa lost 2-9 and not a single fight!

They need to watch the figure skater. Skinner is always on fire when he plays against the Rangers, and he has 16 points ( 9 goals, 7 assists ) in his past 10 games.

Pavel Buchnevich goes back in and replaces Spooner on the top 6. Let’s see if he got the message.

Projected lineup ( courtesy NHL ):

Namestnikov- Zibanejad- Zuccarello

Kreider-Hayes-Buchnevich

Vesey-Howden-Fast

Spooner-Chytil-Lettieri

Skjei-DeAngelo

Staal-Pionk

Smith-Shattenkirk

McLeod prucha’d

  1. Let’s hope buch seizes the opportunity and Quinn is patient with him this game and going forward as long as the effort is there. Hope the 3rd and 4th lines get about the same amount of ice time against a team like buffalo and Chytil gets pp time

  2. Spooner gets to spoon Larry Brooks in the press box.

    Bold prediction:
Buchnevich will score 2 goals and have an assist and the morning convo tomorrow will start with how he wasn’t competitive except for those three plays ; D

From #NYR coach David Quinn: Pavel Buchnevich returns to lineup in place of Ryan Spooner, who is nursing a lower body injury that is not considered serious. Buchnevich will play on line with Kevin Hayes & Chris Kreider. Also: D Adam McQuaid is now listed as week-to-week.

David Quinn says Adam McQuaid’s lower body injury is different from what the Rangers originally thought and he’s more week to week now. The Rangers have no plans to recall a D yet. Fredrik Claesson is close to being ready to return and they have six healthy D.

  4. Is milk carton playing or not?

The intrepid go time poster said he was Playing but the new links say he Buchnevich’d.

  5. I don’t think buch is the second coming by any mean, but would like to see him succeed here as he is one a of handful of skilled forwards we have anywhere in the system.

Rasmus Dahlin taking usual line rushes with Casey Nelson, so looks like he’s good to go for Sabres after a scare yesterday. Also, Carter Hutton is 4-0-0 with a 1.35 GAA and .960 SV% vs. NYR in his career.

  7. Tired to repeat, that “Enigmatic”, finesse and talented, but also inconsistent and often moody Mr.Buchnevich unfortunately is not really built for NHL, like many others before him. Good fella’ though, which, as we know, is not a profession…

  8. I like Governor Son more and more – he has a good hockey sense of next happening on ice, brave enough to go into the difficult places and active in general.

  9. It likely isn’t good with Howden. But – for arguments sake – even if it’s not that bad…there’s no reason to risk anything by putting him back out there. Hopefully he’s just in protocol and they’re playing it safe. Worst case? We’ll be seeing Lias next game.

  10. Unfortunately, it is not a Torts’ Rangers, which could hold one goal leading to the end of game with a high degree of probability. So, I don’t have a trust in that now.

  11. Defense playing better, much better scheme. Shea in particular, quietly effective.
Names can’t skate by that Zika shot on goal line; bang that puppy home, don’t raise your hands.

  12. Had a flashback to Zbad’s broken leg when Howden went into the boards. He seemed to able to get off on his own and they say he was kept out as a precaution.

  13. On Tuesday when Quinn put Spooner back in the lineup as the third line center, and leaves Chytil on the fourth line, there is going to be outrage.

  14. Pionk was much better last night. I never quite know what to make of DeAngelo. Love his anger, and skating. But sometimes he just kind of drifts off. Wonders up the ice for no apparent reason.
